The Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit Academic Research Body established in 1989 to carry research and development activities in the fields of all diverse aspects of telecommunications, computer systems and techniques and their application. ICCS is associated with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and is supervised by the Hellenic Ministry of Education. NTUA is the oldest and most prestigious educational institution of Greece in the field of technology.
Two research laboratories support the SoftGrip project:
1. Intelligent Robotics and Automation Laboratory (IRAL)
IRAL was established in 1985 at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) with a mission to advance and sustain research and to support teaching in the broad fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive Systems, Control and Automation. Basic and applied research is conducted in both theoretical and application problems whose fundamentals lie in the intersection of various fields of engineering and applied sciences, such as control, systems theory, signal processing, informatics and communications, and whose applications span the fields of intelligent and robotic systems.
2. Control Systems Laboratory (CSL)
CSL belongs to the School of Mechanical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and brings its recognized experience in Mechanisms, Robotics and Automation Systems, including Space Robotic Systems.
